Videodrome (1983) -- Cronenberg fans - this is the version of videodrome that you will want to add to your collection alongside the pristine Criterion cut release. This is an extended uncut composite version which is nicely edited together from the Video release of the uncut version and pieces from the TV version (aired by A&E in North America).
The official Criterion (and all other) release runs at 8mins. This version runs at a whoppin 103 mins. Now I have not had time to sit and compare this to the Criterion release, so please do not ask me what extra bits are in it.. All I can say is - an additional 14 minutes is there and it is not additional end credits or format differnces.
For those that have no idea on the plot :
Sleazy lowlife cable TV operator Max Renn discovers a snuff broadcast called "Videodrome." But it is more than a TV show--it's an experiment that uses regular TV transmissions to permanently alter the viewer's perceptions by giving them brain damage. Max is caught in the middle of the forces that created "Videodrome" and the forces that want to control it, his body itself turning into the ultimate weapon to fight this global conspiracy.
Videodrome DVD is offered as a compact edition. This transfer is manufactured on demand and is presented on premium DVD-R with thermal disc print in a clear plastic wallet. Important: This title has been manufactured from the best-quality video master (rated 8/10) currently available and has not been remastered or restored.
