Leptirica (1973) -- A truly mesmerising and stunning visual treat. The print is taken from Serbian TV and has never been released oficially on tape or DVD. A superbly rare print that is unknown to almost all. Now presented here with English subtitles.
Leptirica is set in a small rural village in Serbia, in which the people rely on an old fashioned mill to grind flour for bread. The millers are turning up dead, and the community is faced with starvation. Thankfully, a new miller is found when a young bachelor with nothing to lose agrees to do the job.
The monster in this story is a werewolf/vampire creature who attacks the mill at night. The young bachelor survives his encounter with the monster by chance and is able to identify who the creature used to be before becoming the werewolf. So the men of the village find the grave of the person they believe to be the creature and plunge a stake through its heart, which should end the curse. Except in this legend, when the stake is driven in, a moth is released. It gets away, and because the men anger a fellow villager by stealing his daughter away to be married, he uses the moth to get revenge. An incredibly eerie masterpiece of horror cinema and features some of the creepiest vampire attacks ever placed on screen. Presented with English subtitles fo the first time.
Leptirica DVD is offered as a compact edition. This transfer is manufactured on demand and is presented on premium DVD-R with thermal disc print in a clear plastic wallet. Important: This title has been manufactured from the best-quality video master (rated 7/10) currently available and has not been remastered or restored.
