Dr. Caligari (1989) — Mrs. Van Houten has shown signs of losing touch with reality, and her husband discusses possible treatment with Dr. Caligari, who says Mrs. Van Houten has a disease of the libido. The staff want Dr. Caligari removed from their facility due to her controversial experiments with electroshock and hypothalamus injections. As Dr. Caligari continues experimenting with her patients, her daughter and son-in-law attempt to stop her.

Here we have the granddaughter of the famous Dr. Caligari continuing on in his traditions, that is, if his traditions were "Better Living Through Chemistry" like the sign says outside the institute, which houses a wide variety of seriously deranged folks. Les Van Houten is worried about his wife, and if what we see is anything like what's really going on, his worries are justified. A lot of this has to do with sexual frustration or something, apparently the wife is a nympho and can't wait to get her hands on any available "boy thing". We also have a cannibal who likes his electrical shock treatment, in fact he puts pins in his buttocks so he gets an extra "tingle". We ALSO have two wacked-out doctors who like nothing more than to sit down to a nice dinner of "sheep trotters".

This is weird and whacky and just all over the place but it's a great watch, if you enjoy way-off-center stuff. Bizarre and somewhat refreshing. Not to mention chock full of nudity and bizarre sexual situations.

Dr. Caligari DVD is available as a deluxe edition with custom cover and dvd case. Important: This title is manufactured-on-demand from the best-quality video master currently available and has not been remastered or restored.
