Devil's Exorcist (1975) -- Obscure Spanish clone of 'The Exorcist'. Stylish visuals and great atmosphere in this low budget shocker.

From the director of the even more obscure horror comedy "Hard Times For Dracula" comes this somewhat cerebral but nontheless stylishly mounted low budget Spanish Exorcist rip off. Teresita, the teenage daughter of a wealthy couple begins behaving strangely and acting out violently. Eventually, one of her freakish nightmarish visions leads to the death of her mother but it's deemed an accident and she's placed in her doctor's care for observation.

Director Jorge Darnell plays pretty fast and loose with the plot developments, the story never really coalesces and there is no exorcism or overly exploitative elements in this but you won't care as the eerie atmosphere and visuals are fantastic, recalling several of the best set pieces of Freda and Bava. Plus there's a surprise ending that although telegraphed a bit in advance is no less creepy when revealed.

Devil's Exorcist DVD is offered as a compact edition. This transfer is manufactured on demand and is presented on premium DVD-R with thermal disc print in a clear plastic wallet.
