Cross of the Devil (1975) -- Also known as the Devils cross, this rare low budget, forgotten, out of print Spanish effort boasts high pedigree including direction by John Gilling (Plague of Zombies, 1966) which unfortunatly would be the last film he made. It features a sect of devil worshippers and breifly some zombies in good old Blind Dead fashion. Written by none other than Paul Naschy, who in 1973 had starred in three zombie movies of his own.
Devils Cross tells the tale of a writer, by the name of Dawson, who suffers from strange hallucinations under the influence of opium, involving the legendary Knights Templar pursuing a young woman through a forest. He retires to Spain in order to overcome his addiction, but instead encounters the superstitions that are driving his hallucinations. He is followed everywhere by a sinister demonic figure in a black hood who slaughters everyone he meets, framing Dawson for the killings..
